Language Arts
On their journal book, students will write about what they did this past weekend.

Activity:
Students will draw and color their picture.

Next they will write one sentence about their picture.

Teacher will check each student’s work.

Math
Discuss with students on how to count nickels by 5’s.

Note: For easy counting students may use pasta noodles or sticks.

Activity: 5 problems
Students will practice on activity sheet on how to count nickels using 5’s.

Note: Teacher will assist ESL/ELL students

Social Studies
Discuss with students about the community helpers in our community.

Poems on Community Helpers

Activity:
Students will color and cut out their community helpers one by one. Next, they glue them on popsicles sticks provided by teacher.

Science
Teacher and students will discuss about their Touch sense activity from last Thursday.

Q&A:
Were you scared about when an item was placed on your hand?
Was it easy or difficult to recognize the item as you were blindfolded?
If you had touched all the edges, would it be easier to recognize the item?
Language Arts
Students will work on their alphabet of the week.

Teacher will provide directions.

Activity:
1. Students will color the objects that have the beginning letter sound.

Next they will cut and paste.

2. Students will practice writing their alphabet of the week on their writing tablet.

Math
Students will recite vocabulary words for Money.

Activity: 5 problems
Students will write how much penny and nickel are worth when combine.

Note: Teacher will assist ESL/ELL students

Social Studies
Students will continue working on bulletin board outside the classroom; community helpers need to be added.

Activity:
Each student will be asked to draw and color a community helper in our community. Next they will cut and paste on bulletin board outside classroom.

Science
Teacher and students will discuss more about Touch sense.

Activity:
Students will play a game on Touch sense. A group of students at a time; 5 minutes each group.

Five students will be blindfolded. Rules will be given.

Each student will put an object in front of them and they identify it by using their Touch sense.

Each student that gets three objects right will get a sticker.
Language Arts
Have students retell story “The Very Busy Spider” by Eric Carle

Q&A:

Students will recognize and count their one hundred number chart.

Students will recite the ordinal numbers in order.

Activity: 5 problems
Students will match ordinal numbers and word.

Activity:
Students will think about what they want to be when they grow up.

Next they will draw and color on their journal worksheet.

Last they will write one sentence of how they would be responsible community helpers.

Ex: I want to be a Teacher I want to help students learn their alphabets.

Science
Introduce Smell and Taste sense.

Discuss with students about the importance of our two senses.

Activity:
Students will smell and taste while being blindfolded.

Five students at a time.


Language Arts
Students will be given LA activity worksheet for the alphabet of the week.

Instructions to be provided.

Science/Math
Students will learn to make chocolate chip cookies from scratch.

Each student will take turns putting ingredients in bowl and mixing dough.

Each student will put a drop of cookie dough on baking sheet.

Social Studies
Students will share with their classmates about what they want to be when they grow up.

Students line up outside.
Teacher guide students into the classroom.
Take out shoes and place them on the rack as students enter classroom.

Teacher will take attendance.
Teacher will assign a student to bring attendance sheet to the office.

Chocolate Chip Cookies (Original Recipe)



Subject: Science, Math
Objective: SWBAT learn how to make cookie dough.
SWBAT bake their cookies.
SWBAT smell, touch, and taste their cookie.

Ingredients: 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup butter or margarine, softened
¾ cup granulated sugar
¾ cup packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 eggs
2 cups (12-ounce package) NESTLE TOLL HOUSE Semi-Sweet Chocolate Morsels
1 cup chopped DIAMOND walnuts (optional)

Procedures: Combine flour, baking soda and salt in small bowl. Beat butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar and vanilla in large mixer bowl until creamy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Gradually beat in flour mixture. Stir in morsels and walnuts (optional). Drop by rounded tablespoon onto un-greased baking sheets.

Bake in preheated 375° F. Oven for 9 to 11 minutes or until golden brown. Let stand for 2 minutes; remove to wire racks to cool completely. Makes about 5 dozen cookies.
