1) Introduce and discuss with students about the functions of MONEY.

2) Explain the relation of numbers and money.

3) Show and explain to students how much each coin and paper money is worth.

4) Have students recognize and recite how much each coin and paper money is worth.
a. Can you tell me what coin is this?
b. Can you tell me how much this coin is worth?
c. Can you tell me how much this paper money is worth?
d. What can I buy with one quarter?
e. What can I but with one dollar?

5) Allow students to explore with money.

ACTIVITY:

1) Provide students with activity work sheets.

2) Read instructions to students. Teacher must grab students’ attention before reading instructions.

3) Have each students recite instructions back to teacher.

4) Allow 15 minutes for students to complete their work. Additional 5 minutes for ESL/ELL students

1) Listen and answer questions asked by teacher.

2) Listen as teacher explains relation of numbers and money. Students may ask questions for clarifications.

3) Recognize and repeat how much each coin and paper money is worth.

Unit Topic: Five Senses Grade: Kindergarten, Rm B-2

1) Introduce and discuss with students the FIVE SENSES; SIGHT, SOUND, TOUCH, TASTE, and SMELL

2) Display the FIVE SENSES chart (KWL)

3) Explain how the senses are used; give examples and ask students to do the same.

4) Explain the Five Senses relationship with the brain and body system; how messages are transmitted from the sense to the brain, then to the body system, then back out.
Demonstrate a Sample for each Sense

5) Q&A for understanding and knowledge. Show flash cards and ask students to name the sense that matches the picture.

ACTIVITY
1) Conduct an experiment on SMELL.

2) Give instructions before proceeding with activity.

3) Place items in each container so that students do not see what’s in them. Mark containers from A – J with a list for “your eyes only”

4) Show students the letter mark on the outside of the container.

5) Have each student smell the content in the container w/out putting their nose too close.

6) Question: “Can someone guess what is in this container?”

First student that raises his/her hand is given the opportunity.

6) Give a reward for students who guess the answer right. (eraser, pencil, or stickers)

3) Teacher will pass one container at a time. Wait for your turn.

4) Put the container one inch from nose and smell. Begin guessing what the content is.

5) Wait until the teacher asks the question.

1) Introduce book to students.
“Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?” By Bill Martin Jr./Eric Carle

2) Picture walk with students. Ask students to make the sounds of each animal.

3) Begin reading story. Remind students that when an animal is called out have them make the sound.

4) Ask questions after story is read.
a. Did you like the story?
b. What is your favorite color?
c. Have you ever seen a purple cat? a blue horse?

ACTIVITY
1) Sentence strips should have been prepared prior to activity. Place strips in random order by color code to match animals from the story.

2) Tell students that the story Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? is all mixed up and needs to be put back in the correct order.

3) Have students place the sentence strips in order to retell story. Use magnets to stick on white board.

4) Invite students to draw pictures of each character to mach the sentence.

5) Have students retell story using sentence strips. Read along with them.

1) Listen and recognize book introduced by teacher.


2) Answer questions. Make the sounds of each animal in story.

3) Listen as teacher reads story. As the animal is called out make the sound.


4) Be prepared to answer questions at the end of story.




ACTIVITY
1) Teacher has prepared activity. This activity is to strengthen students’ sequencing skills and vocabulary for time order by putting events in order.

2) Remember and recognize story as it was read in sequence order.

3) Place the sentence strips in order to retell story. Use magnets to stick on white board.


4) Draw pictures of each character to match the sentences.

5) Retell story using sentence strips on white board. Teacher will read along with students.

b. Who is your favorite character? Why?
c. What was wrong with Mumble? Why do other penguins laugh at him?
d. What was happening to all the fishes? Who was taking them?
e. Was Mumble’s father angry or embarrass? Why?

ACTIVITY
1) Provide students with journal worksheet.

2) Ask students to think about their favorite part of the movie.

3) Have students draw and color. Teacher will write a sentence and students will trace.

4) Review if student’s work is complete then instruct students to stamp and place it in teacher’s basket.
